Higher Standards

One of the best things about beginning my journey as a life coach is coming up against challenges and holding myself accountable to higher standards than I might have prior to becoming a coach.

As a coach, you don't stop having challenges. But as a coach, you undoubtedly have a wide variety of tools to help you coach yourself through any struggles you may have. As a coach, I think I progress faster, moving through my struggles more quickly, while still honoring them for what they are, why they came to be, and what they are here to teach me.

Being a coach does not make me perfect, but it does keep me focused on a healthier perspective and reminds me to take mental notes as I transition through the obstacles that come my way. I am constantly thinking about how my struggles can be used to help coach you. It keeps me grounded in reality, reminding me of the challenges you may also come across, and it helps me to continue to feel compassion and empathy for your journey because I have experienced my own.

I like that I am holding myself to higher standards, because it keeps me from getting mired in the crud that can sometimes consume me if I let it. There seems to be a strange comfort in relinquishing oneself to self-pity, or the victim mentality, but as a coach, I immediately recognize the ridiculousness of that and end up laughing and reminding myself that comfort can also come in the form of self-respect and self-empowerment.

I believe I still have higher to climb and new levels of standards to reach. And for every time I reach a new plateau I allow myself the time to get used to my new found status and give myself the opportunity to build another stairway or ladder, or plant another tree, as I continue to climb once again.

My intention is not to leave you behind, quite the contrary. My belief is that the higher the standards I hold for myself, the higher I will be able to guide you. My intention is to charter the terrain, let you know of any obstacles, prepare you for the challenges and guide you through your own unique journey to your own higher ground.

If you are interested in getting more information on how I can do that, or would like to experience a free coaching session please contact me. This is why I exist. :)
